Committees

Certification Committee

The Certification Committee is responsible for producing the Certified Landscape Technician Test at the local level. This includes coordinating the preparation of the test site, procuring judges, and raising funds to support the event. The CLT test is given twice a year by the state organization, once in southern California in the spring and once in Northern California in the fall. The spring test will be held in April 2007, in San Diego.

The Education Committee plans and executes a number of educational seminars each year at the chapter level. Topics range from irrigation controllers, to drainage and grading. Many focus on information necessary to successfully complete the Certified Landscape Technician test.

The Legislative Committee acts as a liaison with the state's legislative committee keeping chapter members informed on pending legislation that would affect their businesses. The committee also takes a proactive approach with local government officials to protect the best interests of the membership on local issues that could affect the industry.

The Membership Committee is responsible for soliciting new members and attending to the needs of existing members at the chapter level.

Public Relations Committee

The public relations committee is responsible for promoting the chapter, its members and the industry through marketing and educational materials distributed to the membership, associated industries and the general public. Promotional materials include the chapter directory, web site, newsletter and press releases.

Chapter Golf Tournament Committee

This committee is responsible for planning the chapter's annual golf tournament. This includes securing the location and raffle prizes, soliciting sponsors, taking reservations, checking in participants, monitoring play and scoring the foursomes.

Chapter Awards Program Committee

The awards committee is responsible for planning the chapter's annual Beautification Awards Program. Duties include: collecting entries, securing judges, setting judging schedules, tallying judged projects, ordering trophies, and securing the location, MC, and catering for the awards program.

Chapter School Outreach Committee

This committee works with local high schools and vocational training centers to promote landscaping as a viable career path.

The Water Committee is working with local government agencies and water purveyors to promote the benefits of landscaping and protect the interests of the landscape industry in any future legislation regarding water conservation.
